TechImpact Ideathon – Session 1: Advancing Technology for Purpose-Driven Innovation

Post-Event Recap

Purpose in Motion (PIM) successfully conducted TechImpact Ideathon – Session 1 in collaboration with Anaphero, bringing together emerging innovators, students, and young professionals to explore how technology can be leveraged to solve real-world social challenges. The session marked the beginning of PIM’s TechImpact Ideathon series, designed to cultivate impact-first thinking, rapid ideation, and collaborative problem-solving within the tech for good ecosystem.

Overview: TechImpact Ideathon & Its Objective

The TechImpact Ideathon is a focused ideation initiative by Purpose in Motion that aims to bridge technology, innovation, and social impact. Session 1 took place on December 3, 2025 in an online format, inviting participants from diverse time zones to come together in real time. The Session was structured to help participants understand how real problems are identified, framed, and translated into scalable technology-driven solutions within a limited timeframe.

By combining expert insights, hands-on group work, and live pitching, the session emphasized actionable ideation over theory, reinforcing PIM’s commitment to experiential learning and impact-oriented innovation.

Collaboration Spotlight: Purpose in Motion × Anaphero

A key highlight of Session 1 was the collaboration with Anaphero, a global Tech4Good startup focused on developing life-saving solutions for individuals at risk of severe allergic reactions. Anaphero’s founders shared their journey, challenges, and decision-making processes, offering participants a realistic lens into building technology with a strong social mission at its core.

This collaboration enabled participants to directly engage with a real-world case study, grounding ideation in practical constraints, ethical responsibility, and user-centric design.

Event Agenda & Flow

The session followed a clearly defined agenda that balanced learning, collaboration, and output-driven execution:

Opening & TechImpact Overview (7:30 PM – 7:40 PM)

The session began with an introduction to Purpose in Motion, the TechImpact Ideathon framework, and the role of technology in addressing pressing societal challenges.

Anaphero Case Study Presentation (7:40 PM – 8:00 PM)

During the case study presentation, Anaphero introduced a real-world problem statement drawn directly from the challenge they are currently working to solve in the domain of allergy response and emergency care. The Anaphero team outlined the context, user pain points, and existing gaps in current solutions, setting the foundation for the ideation exercise that followed. This approach ensured that participants were ideating within real constraints, real stakes, and real impact potential, closely mirroring the realities of building technology for social good.

TechImpact Ideathon Group Activity (8:00 PM – 8:30 PM)

Following the case presentation, participants were divided into breakout rooms tasked with brainstorming solutions to Anaphero’s live problem statement. Working within a 25-minute ideation sprint, each group collaborated to conceptualize a technology-driven solution aligned with the challenge presented. Each group was guided to:

  • Introduce team members
  • Assign roles (Moderator, Digital Notetaker, Presenter)
  • Review the group activity brief and IDEA Napkin framework
  • Prepare a concise 4-minute pitch

This segment fostered fast-paced collaboration, structured thinking, and effective role delegation under time constraints.

Live Pitch Presentations (8:30 PM – 8:45 PM)

Teams presented their solutions in the main room, articulating their problem statements, proposed technology, and intended social impact.

Best Idea Announcement & Closing Remarks (8:45 PM – 9:00 PM)

The session concluded with feedback from mentors, reflections on key learnings, and the announcement of the winning team.

Winners

🏆 Winning Team: Team Nick & Giulia
Team Members: Jada Howard & Joseph

The winning team presented an impactful solution inspired by wearable health technology — a concept similar to a Fitbit designed specifically for allergic reactions. Their idea focused on:

  • Real-time monitoring of physiological indicators linked to allergic responses
  • Automated alerts sent to parents and guardians during emergencies
  • Improving response time and safety for individuals, especially children, at risk of severe allergic reactions

The solution stood out for its clarity, feasibility, strong user focus, and alignment with Anaphero’s mission, earning recognition from both mentors and judges.

Key Takeaways & Learning Outcomes

Participants gained valuable insights through the session, including:

  • Understanding real-world impact innovation: Learning how social challenges are approached by active Tech4Good startups
  • Rapid ideation under constraints: Applying structured frameworks to generate solutions within limited time
  • Team collaboration & role clarity: Experiencing how effective delegation enhances outcomes
  • Pitching with purpose: Communicating ideas concisely while highlighting social value and technological feasibility

Value Created for Participants & the Ecosystem

Session 1 created meaningful value by:

  • Empowering participants with practical innovation skills
