Masterclass Recap: Stronger Together – Building Partnerships for Purpose

On June 19, the second session of the Amplify Your Impact masterclass series-titled “Stronger Together: Building Partnerships for a Purpose”– brought together aspiring changemakers from across the globe. Co-hosted by PIM Global and DICT-MIMAROPA (Philippines) and with participants joining from all over the globe, this session explored how values-aligned collaborations and strategic networking can shape powerful career paths.

From Engineering to Empowerment: A Career Journey Fueled by Purpose

Facilitated by Saurabh Nanda, Founder and CEO of SN Mentoring, the session opened with a compelling personal narrative: from coding for a U.S.-based tech firm to designing career ecosystems for youth. Saurabh revealed his unconventional job-hunting approach: “I faked an interview to get a job!” His creative strategy of requesting a newsletter interview that turned into a 3-hour conversation and a job offer demonstrated that sometimes the boldest moves open unexpected doors.

This anecdote set the tone for a session grounded in self-awareness, resilience, and bold action.

The Career Lifeline: Mapping the Journey

A highlight of the session was the interactive “Career Lifeline Exercise”, participants visually mapped their professional highs and lows. Despite varied backgrounds, a common insight emerged: success is nonlinear – showing that career growth follows universal principles of persistence, adaptation, and strategic networking.

Saurabh further also introduced his own decision-making model, Spheres of Understanding, which guides individuals from external exploration to internal reflection, followed by opportunity mapping and, ultimately, the creation of their own unique “gift zone.”

The 70% Rule: Why Networks Matter More Than Ever

Perhaps the most eye-opening statistic shared: “70% of jobs are never advertised” and are filled through personal networks. Saurabh emphasized that “Your network is your net worth,” illustrating how the six degrees of separation principle can connect anyone globally.

He also emphasized the importance of building an online image, with a live demo using ChatGPT to optimize LinkedIn profiles-showcasing how AI can assist, but that the storytelling must remain human. Participants also learned various platform-specific strategies.

From Insight to Action

Participants left with a toolkit of actionable strategies-from refining LinkedIn profiles and conducting career “micro-experiments,” to mastering the basics of respectful digital outreach. The key takeaway? In a world full of noise and automation, human-centred skills-empathy, adaptability, and communication-are what make partnerships truly purposeful.

What’s Next: Perfect Your Pitch

The masterclass series concludes on July 27 with “Perfect Your Pitch,” featuring Leonard Ang from Build Club AI Manila. Learn how to tell your story in a way that resonates with funders, partners, and global audiences.
